Message de l'Ambassadeur
Mr. Chairman,
Dear Compatriots, Ladies and Gentlemen,
I deem it an honour to be invited as the Ambassador of the Republic of Ghana to France to the inauguration ceremony of SANKOFA - Franco Ghanaian Association. Be that as it may and due to some other pressing matters, I am unable to be present in person to grace the occasion. I regret this profoundly. I have therefore requested Mrs. Evelyn Ofosu-Amable, First Secretary in charge of Political Affairs to represent me.
This year marks an important milestone in the history of Ghana and we all need to acknowledge the toils of the country's founding fathers for their extraordinary vision, courage, devotion and sacrifice in the service of Ghana's emancipation in particular and the continent as a whole.
We have to be thankful for what God has done for our great nation for the past 50 years. We also have to resolve to do more to enhance the developmental efforts and unity of our motherland in consonance with our proverbial 'yen
ara y'asase nP.
This is why the formation of SANK OF A is very significant in that it will help consolidate the foundations of Franco-Ghanaian bonds and also explore other vistas towards developing our motherland.
We have an arduous task as Ghanaians and Africans for that matter, to unflinchingly market Ghana to the Francophone world and to ensure a mutual understanding of the cultures between the two countries, and SANKOF A, therefore, could not have been conceived and born at a better moment.
I want to reiterate Government of Ghana's gratefulness for the contributions of Ghanaians abroad in complementing the country's development efforts back home. Contributions from Ghanaians like you in the Diaspora accounted for six billion V.S. dollars for the Government of Ghana's budgetary outlay in respect of 2006 fiscal year alone. That is why the Kufuor Government believes that after gold and cocoa, your contributions to the national efforts is not only colossal but also crucial. I specifically wish to commend you residents
of France for your constant dedication towards the cause of Ghana.
Always remember that you have a home in Paris in the Embassy of Ghana whose doors remain open and is ever ready to help in any way possible.
We ask the almighty God to grant us the ability and the strength not only to resist oppressor's rule, but to continue in our efforts to move our country forward.
The Ambassador hopes that he will be able to join you in person the next time and wishes you a happy inauguration. AYEKOO!
Thank you all and God bless you abundantly.
