GHANAIANS CELEBRATE REPUBLIC DAY WITH SANKOFA'S INAUGURATION IN TOULOUSE. THE SPEECH: First of all let us all clap for the cultural troupes who have wonderfully displayed tonight. They have defended the honour of Africa and Ghana in particular.
Ghanahene Nana Owusu Aburokyerede,Representative of His Exellency the Ghana's Ambassador,my Ghanaian compatriots,cherished friends of Ghana,dear ladies and gentlemen,Good evening.
My speech today contains a solidarity message from the Ghanaian Community In France Representative Council.(GHACIF). To give you a highlight; GHACIF was formed four years ago by 26 Ghanaian associations and churches accross France in Paris the French capital.
Our vivid survival has not been easy but because our leaders are armed with a strong patriotic spirit,as at today progress and success have always crowned our efforts and objectives.
GHACIF is represented in Paris and it's regions,we have affiliate representation in Marseille,Strasbourg,Montpellier,Brest and Lille.Outside France,we have a co-ordinator in Ghana. We are represented in Belgium,USA and the Great Britain. Today we hope to count Sankofa as our affiliate and representation in Toulouse.
We've been blessed with one of the leading Ghanaian diaspora Community websites. Incorporated is the only Ghanaian radio station in France. GHACF RADIO.
Our website showcases Ghanaian activities in France.
Our radio station is coming out soon with programs for callers,thematic broadcast,entertainment and the promotion of Ghanaian culture.
We have created the only registered Ghanaian football team the BLACKSPEARS under the chairmanship of Mr. John Kennedy Kyeremeh. This is our legacy for the youth. It is blooming.
GHACIF is the first diasporan donor of the National Health Insurance Scheme. We have created the GHAVNOTS fund which is soothing the hearts of poor and sick people in Ghana. Believe me we have put smiles on their faces.
GHACIF in collaboration with it's international representatives is in the process of creating the International Association Of Ghanaians in the Diaspora.(IAGHID).
It has become essential that the diaspora gets a mouthpiece and participates in the perpetual democratisation of Ghana. We are outstanding in the social progress with our remittances and social contributions. Our Ambassador has confirmed it in his speech.
Today is a day for SANKOFA. Co-incidentally, the background of GHACIF website is the Sankofa symbol.So, SANKOFA association will be the background of the Ghanaian Community in France.
You have the defender role. You have it right by joining hands with the French people to create a Franco-Ghanaian frienship Assoc.
We are here to encourage you. Association is no government. It is not an authority. It is simply a service structure to mankind. No service to mankind is too small.Any 2 or more people have the right to associate for a good cause. Your cause is laudable and indeed honourable.
We are here to grease your elbows. Whatever you achieve,wherever you reach,remember c'est le geste et l'intention qui compte.Every patriotic movement you make for Ghana will be referred to as victory. Yours,His,Hers and Mine is what will make Ghana tomorow.
Accross Sankofa, let us honour our traditional leaders,our Pastors,our associations and ourselves.
With Sankofa let's promote the name and culture of Ghana in France and that of France in Ghana. Let us guide our youth and children.
SANKOFA has materialised the handshake between H.E. Nicolas Sarkozy and H.E. John Adjekum Kuffour. It is a bridge between France and Ghana. Let us re-enforce it.
Ladies and Gentlemen GHACIF is your developmental instrument. Use it. Sankofa, all what we have is at your disposal.
Today is Ghana's Republic day. Long live Ghana,Vive la France,Long live GHACIF and long live Sankofa our dear association. God Bless You ALL.
